Veneers are thin ceramic restorations applied to the front surface of the teeth. They may address colour, shape, proportions and some positioning concerns, but they may not be the right choice for every aesthetic problem.
Who might be a suitable candidate?
They may be considered for patients with suitable tooth and gum health who wish to address colour or shape, gaps or limited positioning concerns. The bite and available enamel are assessed in detail before treatment.
Do teeth always need preparation?
The amount of preparation varies. Some cases need only very limited adjustments; in others, different restorative options may be more appropriate. The main aim is to preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
Case selection matters
No-preparation veneers are not appropriate for every patient. Careful case selection helps avoid an unnecessarily bulky result.
How long do they last?
Longevity depends on planning and application, oral care, bite forces, tooth grinding or clenching and regular reviews. It is therefore not appropriate to give a single standard lifespan.
